In a recent unexpected turn of events, I was asked by local singer-songwriter Ni Key to be her sound engineer for a live performance in Neeritter. Initially, I was a bit hesitant to say yes, because I had no prior experience and never really considered doing this type of sound work. Looking back though, I’m glad to have accepted the challenge!
The town’s church functioned as the magical stage and provided a scenic backdrop and beautiful sonic ambience to Ni Key’s impressive vocals and guitarist Ton’s peaceful strumming.

These circumstances luckily made my job a whole lot easier! My tasks were helping the team set up the audio system, including microphones, speakers and the 12-channel Soundcraft mixing panel, queuing the right backing tracks on time and monitoring volume levels during the live performance. Basically, I had to make sure everything sounded nice and clean for the audience. Which turned out to be relatively easy considering the fact that the acoustic set up required just three mixing channels.
I’m happy everything transpired smoothly in the end and truly enjoyed this new perspective as a sound engineer. Many thanks to Ni Key and Ton for this unique opportunity and to my girlfriend from Studio De Laurier for the picture šš„°
