Earlier this year, I reached a point at which a little self-reflection was needed in order to find a new direction, on both professional and personal level. Because what do I actually stand for? What gives me energy? What do I want to achieve and what is my vision of the future?
What followed was a very valuable learning process. I’ve realized that it’s okay to be searching and not have all the answers right away. That it’s okay to be learning and start from zero. That it’s okay to be quieter, because this character trait can also be a strength. And it’s okay to trust on my own judgment and make my own choices.
Giving music a bigger role in my (work) life and gaining experience producing music in a real recording studio, that’s what I want. To continue working in the field of marketing and communication, where the music clearly resonates. That’s what I want.
Recently, I achieved both goals sooner than I had expected, and I’m incredibly thankful and excited about that. I’ve already been working with great joy for a few weeks now and I’ve been drawing energy from applying my unique approach: combining creativity and structure.
More and more I feel like belonging and I can’t wait to see what else is going to manifest in the near future.
Things may flow again. Because I am good enough. Time to create growth and step out of the shadows. I’m going for my highest goal:
“I’m Rick van Meijel and I inspire myself and others to create growth”.

Thank you Studio De Laurier for the lovely photoshoot and for being part of my journey. 💖
